Terms

Last updated 1 June 2026

These cover work carried out by Hambridge AutoWorks Ltd and use of this website. Nothing here removes your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Quotes and estimates

A quote is a fixed price and we will honour it. An estimate is our best assessment before we have the car apart, and it can change — but only after we have rung you, explained what we found, and you have agreed. We do not add work to an invoice that you have not approved.

Prices on this site include VAT at 20% and include fitting unless stated otherwise. Where a price says “from”, the final figure depends on the parts your vehicle takes.

Bookings

Booking online holds a ramp for you. There is no booking fee and no deposit for an MOT or a service. For work over £600 involving non-returnable parts we ask for the parts cost in advance, and we tell you that when we quote.

You can cancel or move a booking at any time by ringing 01632 960 118. There is no cancellation charge. If we have already ordered a non-returnable part specifically for your vehicle, we will ask you to cover it.

MOT testing

An MOT is a statutory test of a vehicle’s condition on the day of the test. It is not a warranty, a guarantee of future roadworthiness, or a substitute for servicing. A pass does not mean the vehicle is in good condition, and we are not able to make it mean that.

Test results are recorded on the DVSA database and are the responsibility of the nominated tester. If you disagree with a result you have the right to appeal to DVSA on form VT17 within 14 working days, and to complain to us first.

A free retest is available where the vehicle is returned to us within ten working days of the original test. Outside that window a full fee applies.

Parts and workmanship

Parts we supply carry a 12-month or 12,000-mile guarantee, whichever comes first, covering the part and the labour to replace it. Wear items — brake pads, tyres, wiper blades, bulbs — are excluded from wear-related claims.

If you supply your own part we will fit it and charge labour only. We cannot guarantee a part we did not supply, and if it fails you will be charged labour again.

Payment and collection

Payment is due on collection by card, bank transfer or cash. Under section 41 of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 we have a lien over the vehicle until the bill is settled.

Vehicles left more than 28 days after we have told you the work is finished may incur storage at £12 a day. We will write to you before any charge starts.

Using this website

The registration checker returns data supplied by DVLA and DVSA. We pass it through unchanged and we cannot correct it. Records can lag reality by up to 24 hours, and occasionally longer. Do not rely on it as proof that a vehicle is taxed or has a valid MOT — check gov.uk/check-mot-history if you need something authoritative.

Hambridge AutoWorks Ltd is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of DVLA or DVSA.

Complaints

Ring 01632 960 118 and ask for Dave. If we cannot resolve it between us, the Motor Ombudsman operates an independent dispute resolution service and we will cooperate with it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
