  “Failed on a corroded brake pipe. They rang me before doing anything, sent a photo of it, and told me what it would cost. £96 and it passed the retest the same afternoon. The main dealer had quoted me £340 for the same job last year on a different car.”

  “Good work and a fair price, and they found a fault two other places had missed. Only reason it is four and not five is it took three days longer than they first said because the part came from Germany. They did keep me updated though, which counts for something.”

  Fair, and thank you. We should have told you at the point of ordering that it was a European part rather than when it did not turn up. We have changed how we quote lead times because of this.

  “Rang round five garages. Two would not quote over the phone, one wanted £680. These were £449 all in for the belt, pump and aux belt, and that is what I paid. No surprises on the invoice.”

  “Work itself was fine and the aircon is cold again. But nobody told me an Audi of that age takes the newer gas, so I was expecting £69 and it was £149. It is on their website so partly my fault, but a heads up on the phone would have been better.”

  You are right and this one is on us. We now check the gas type against the registration when you book and put the correct price on the confirmation email before you come in.
