Suspension wears gradually, so you adapt to it without noticing. Most people only find out how bad it was after it is fixed.
Worn shock absorbers increase stopping distances and cause uneven tyre wear long before they leak visibly. We check them on the ramp and record what we find.
Coil springs snap in cold weather, usually near the bottom coil where they corrode. A broken spring is an MOT failure and can cut a tyre.

Before you book
Check what your car is already due.
The reg check tells you when the MOT runs out and what the last tester flagged. It often changes what you actually need booking in for.
